Being genuinely curious about the person you speak to makes you more magnetic.
The root of this genuine curiosity is empathy.
Humans have an innate need to belong with each other.
And true belonging starts with empathy towards others.
Usually, people listen only to respond. They want to prove they are right or are trying to impress.
If you prove your point, you might feel good but you don't gain anything out of the conversation.
However, if you listen as if you might learn something, both of you walk away smarter and well-equipped for the world.
An idea might click or images might pop up in your head which brings out the most genuine responses.
You would be shocked at how willing people are to open up if you really listen and appreciate others.
So the next time you talk to someone, listen as if you don’t know everything.
Because you don't.
No one knows everything. Everyone can teach you something you didn't know about this world.
